Red Hot Chili Peppers
Warner MusicFreshly served on coloured vinyl records
The title „Return of the Dream Canteen“ adorns the cover of the thirteenth album by the American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) and could hardly better describe the current situation of the musicians in the 40th year of the band’s existence. After ten years of abstinence, their old companion and guitarist John Frusciante, who is appreciated worldwide for his virtuoso playing, joined the three musicians again to create the twelfth album „Unlimited Love“, which we were commissioned by Warner Music to produce. This not only resulted in a new number one album, but certainly fulfilled a dream for many fans and the band members themselves: the resumption of the creative work of this musical quartet.
After all the „ingredients“ for the success-tested RHCP songwriting were together again, a total of over fifty new pieces of music were thus created during the time of the pandemic, which can be found stylistically distinctively on the two latest album releases. A dreamlike story, which again with Rick Rubin as producer for the album „Return of the Dream Canteen“ produced a total of seventeen tracks and is thus the second release within a year. optimal media was also allowed to produce the latest work in seven different vinyl record variants.
In addition to a standard edition with two black 12inch vinyl records (140g Virgin Vinyl), the colour variants Purple, Violet, Pink and Curacao were also produced with two records each. Another version with two coloured Re-Vinyls made of 100% recycled PVC not only makes for a more sustainable purchase, but also offers absolute collector’s character due to the random colour effects.
Each of these versions was produced as a double LP with two printed inner sleeves and a spine sleeve with a 5mm spine. As a deluxe version, a gatefold was produced with two black 12inch vinyl records in printed inner sleeves and a poster.
The musical diversity as well as the consistent realisation through different variations, are also reflected in the artwork of the album, which was designed by the French artists Thami Nabil and Julien Calemard. In a very colourful way of illustrating shapes, printed with Pantone special colour as well as acoustically experienced with a colourful vinyl record selection, the Red Hot Chili Peppers now truly serve the next top-one album with fine ingredients from their „Dream Canteen“.
