Ernst LorenziThe ways of water
With his illustrated book, Ernst Lorenzi has created a multimedia medium that captures the element of water in its thousand guises.
His pictures document moments in a world that is constantly changing. With the help of the Artivive app, various images are brought to life. Through these integrated media extensions, he has succeeded in making the Ötztal accessible outside the region and the ways of water more comprehensible. He enlisted the support of trumpeter Franz Hackl for this purpose. He takes the viewer on a musical journey along the Ötztal’s streams, rivers and waterfalls. Video footage showing the water as it flows completes the visual experience of the illustrated book.
The cover of the Swiss hardcover is by the artist Hannah Philomena Scheiber. The three-dimensionality of the image is further emphasised by the blind embossing of the book cover. The eye-catching book title was printed in offset and embossed to fit perfectly. This makes it stand out clearly from the background.
Opening the hardcover reveals the open thread stitching and a royal blue mirror that matches the title.
The glued book block is connected to the U3 with a four-page postscript. The inner section is divided into 18 chapters and seven photo series. Six pages are additionally provided with flaps, which were placed around an eight-page folded sheet. The contents of the 344-page work were printed on FSC paper.
