FRANEK
The Spirits of Vanishing Animals
An artist through and through, FRANEK has been recognised for her work in Europe and America for many decades. Her works include paintings, drawings and graphics as well as sculptures and photographs. Her long accumulated and constantly expanding oeuvre also includes a large number of animal motifs. Sketches, etchings and paintings of all kinds deal with the subject of endangered animal species, which FRANEK is now presenting in an exhibition and an art book edition. As a stiff brochure with exposed spine strip in bright red, the outer appearance emphasises the explosive content. The dyed through endpapers is the same red as the folded binding. It is precisely this colour tone that seems to run like a proverbial red thread through the entire work and can be found in many of FRANEK’s illustrated works. The cover boards, laminated with a scratch-resistant film, were glued to the endpapers at a distance of nine millimetres from the binding and finally cut smoothly on three sides with the thread-stitched contents.
We had the pleasure of producing this art book for the artist, who was there in person to supervise the printing.
